FF has evolved
Nov 28, 2011,18:49 PM
as I wrote, from a utilitarian watch like Sinn, to a luxury watch. Back to basics is impossible now. The entry price watches are the steel Villeret in fact, not the sports watches.

A look at the Blancpain collection
By: SJX : November 26th, 2011-04:47
I recently visited the Blancpain boutique in Singapore to look at the collection. Blancpain is a brand I know about and have been familiar with in the past, but one that has not really caught my attention recently so this was a welcome refresher. Overall ...
I like Blancpain
By: hewitgar : November 26th, 2011-05:55
Watches, generally, but not the L-Evolution. They are elegant, at the risk of bing 'pedestrian' as you say, and the sports watches are IMO too expensive. So it seems we are pretty well aligned. One thing. I really do NOT like the moon face. It is plain ug...
Good to read you

Blancpain is interesting!
By: big daddy : November 26th, 2011-12:23
Thank you for the excellent photos and comments on Blancpain. I enjoyed reading it and I know that took some time and thought to do.
Many Thanks

Good to see some attention paid to the brand. My love for BP runs deep ..... The Ultra-thin Villeret is simply stunning ! Do you have more information on it ?
Great post SJX.

A great general overview of Blancpain's production. I do tend to agree with your general conclusion that Blancpain is better at traditionnel watches thon they are at more modern timepieces. The re-interpretation of the FF though is a grand success. Best r...
The movement design ...
By: small-luxury-world : November 27th, 2011-03:28
is getting better and better, the cases are still high level, the dials are getting more sophisticated (at least some of them) ... only their new approach for the watch design is something that doesn´t please me. Villeret - Who needs JP at the sconds hand...
The Blancpain 1185
By: jkingston : November 28th, 2011-20:32
The in house Blancpain 1185 is truly a wonderful movement. So good in fact that Vacheron uses it for all of its automatic chronographs and Audemars uses it for its Royal Oak chronograph. Another who relies on it is Bulgari. Just a little perspective on ho...
It is a wonderful movement
By: SJX : November 30th, 2011-02:30
But my point was that it is long in tooth so perhaps it is time for a new chronograph calibre or at least an upgrade. Perhaps something larger to suit the big cases of today better. - SJX
FF... whats left of it?!
By: aldossari_faisal : November 27th, 2011-03:59
i seriously ask my self whats left of that original line ... gold cases... functions which are not related to the basic concept of the watch ? i really would like to see FF as basic as it first came out to the light Date window even.. so their current FF ...

Which original "tool watch" from the past ...
By: small-luxury-world : November 29th, 2011-11:35
is still a tool watch this days? Do you know any? Like this the FF ... at least feels like a tool watch The current FF (Ref. 5015) in the pure steel version is a hiqh quality product. Would not like to see a new FF at the quality level of the old (vintage...

This is simply what i had in mind and wish to see it someday taking place in reality ... nice FF in there . Faisal
Blancpains problem
By: Le Monde Edmond : November 27th, 2011-10:33
Thank you for the great pictures. I love Blancpain but only their vintage FF pieces. It remains a true style icon and was a pioneer at their time. I think the main problem Blancpain has is that people cannot define the brand. They are all over the place a...
