Squale 1521 Militaire Awco edition

I always liked the FF divers, non Mil Spec 12 3 6 9 and Bund, but they are in Unoptania for me, so you need to think outside the box. For some reason i was very atracted by the Bund version with a sterile dial and the story behind the Bund issues, also a favourite of mine is the IWC ocean 2000 Porsche design. There are some replica hommages such as Helson Skindiver and Unimatic Modello 1B sterile bezel but , good as they may be, its not the real thing.
So i broadend my scope and studied on other brands of the era. Squale emerged ,or Squa -Le in Italian as their lies its origine. Amongst all the things i learned in our wonderful forum was that Squale was the case maker for the FF bund watches so there is a perfect and authentic link between the 2, no more replica or hommage in my book as this is the Original maker. Squale produced for many label and name brands and they are still in excistence today from Switzerland. But the present line up was not was i was looking for.

They also sit on a pile of old stock, cases dials and what not, so every once in a while they make or release special editions made with Original parts , maybe dials, cases or bezels. And it so happens their Dutch AD requested a special edition based on the Bund model, with a Sterile bezel ! About 2 years ago and long sold out, but that was okay as it didnt have a date window like the Original. So i was very happy to discover
their 2nd iteration of this 1521 mIlitaire they developed did  have a date window, sterile bezel, C3 marking to replace the H3, and a slightly thinner case than the Original, but still the same design and width. In other words Perfect for me !
And so here it is, my Bund diver from the Original case maker. And i am guessing Squale also delivered or arranged for the dial for the Original Bund seeing this new one , unless someone can convince me otherwise ?. It runs on an ETA 2824 2 and comes on a smooth rubber band but also with a mesh bracelet. A 42mm case fits well on the wrist, wears smaller even and should hold up against 500 mtr waterpressue. I probably wouldnt……

The legibility is extreme and i love the contrast in colours and the slightly higher SL hour markers. Imagine this is what the real Bund in new condition would have looked like?

Apart from using you as knowledge base i also picked up some photo skills so here is my thank you to ;

Amanico style

Blomman style

and Wooden Beam style , i think this is a good match with the rubber.

Thank you all for helping me with another great watch!

I have #28 for both the Gen 1 and this Gen 2 version of this Squale.

Squale was a case maker

For BP? In that sense, wouldn't their history be rather similar to Panerai actually?

I think panerai did it the other way around ? Own case but 3rd party movement from Rolex? Very common practice in those day`s to use outside suppliers and for Squale it was their main business for many years before releasing watches under their own name.

Ah yes... My bad on the terrible phrasing

What I meant was that squale is quite similar to Panerai in this sense
