SIHH 2012: Tag Heuer Mikrogirder
A new innovation from Tag Heuer after last year's Flying 1000.
The particuliarity is that there is no escapement display as we know it anymore (no balance wheel and no hairspring). We don't have much details right now but I find it very interesting, I always wondered what could be invented to replace the escapement system and even surprised that there was nothing yet.

Anounced speed : 1000 hz (500Hz for the Flying 1000), i.e. 7.2 million beats per hour

Something new and innovative for the escapement. It'll be interesting how this stacks up against the DeBethune 926hz escapement and the MB "We can time to 100th of a second with a slow-beat" A

I agree with Mostel - for Tag Heuer and its target market this sort of concept watch adds interest to its regular offerings. And whether the innovation is "practical" or not at this stage is irrelevant. There is a trickle down effect of some aspect of con...
