This is more "worse case scenario" on those specific run costs...

I don't have a lot of experience with maintaining race cars personally. I've never owned one, and I've only personally driven my first race car recently (a Lamborghini race car that was probably maintained more for training and demonstration purposes, not necessarily maintained for racing perfection). But I do have some experience looking at the costs to operate race cars and the fixed costs associated with them. The difference between what I've seen and below is this; the projects I've seen have multiple cars and dedicated full time employees. The estimates above is not with a dedicated crew. So cost structures are different.
But generally, for a team, not counting fixed expenses, an hour of running a race car, maintained to fairly high standards but not necessarily maintained to achieve perfect podium finishes, is VERY significantly lower than $1000 an hour. But a team obviously has other ways to scale and save costs and isn't trying to profit a client rather than a one time individual driver. But keep in mind, these teams have multi million dollar truck trailers housing and transporting the race cars and other incredible fixed expenses. There's probably over $100K in tool investments (just wrenches, screwdrivers, maintenance tools, equipment, tire balancers, alignment equipment, etc.), a lot in spare parts, fuel and tires are probably the cheap things.
I wonder how much electric car racing costs... Might be a lot cheaper!
