Thank you for the Miura picture, Thomas. That IS something!..

 


When Italian Design, Flair, Elegance, Sensuality was at its best! The 50s, 60s, 70s perhaps the 80s? Then, romanticism, beauty for sake of beauty, elegance for sake of elegance, sensuality for sake of sensuality.....humanity for sake of humanity and dreams for the dreams they are..were replaced by ...The Bottom Line, The Profitability, The Markets! ...Markets? What is the markets? Isn't the Market ...people?......with romanticism, beauty, elegance (sometimessmile) but dreams for sure, human beings with feelings? Who go..wow! When their soul is touched by the beautiful music composed by Human beings, the delicate and sometime provocative depiction of Love in paintings, love in Engineering, love and marvel at Horology? Admiration toward another for discovering and explaining something new! Most of what we, little humans, were taught (in the late 50s in my case) has been replaced with something.......bizarre...dark, vilain....what is it?
Love these Humans who have a taste for the "Real" ....these Vintage type of Human......are we not becoming Vintage ourselves?

.. one of my first illegal outings on public roads was with a Bertone X1/9 ... I`m completely at your side Thomas, as a young kid not the Ferraris but the Lambos and Bertone concept cars where my heroes ... can you imagine the look on my face at age 17 wh...

Hi, Bim, The Ferrari Bertone Rainbow took this basic outline to an extreme. Many people also don't realize that Bertone built the X1/9 at Carrozzeria Bertone; they also built the Mini GP! Cheers, TM

but they were rust buckets even by the very early 80's. UK weather and Italian steel dont mix well. it does seem sad when so many iconic design houses start having their names attached to mainstream cars. Ghia is a prime example, its now just a word for a...

.. handled ? I found it to be a very amusing car with a very nice sound and great handling, my friend had the 1500 from 1987, it had 85 hp so it wasn't slow for that period ... but those brakes were really crappy, fading after two or three serious brake-m...

I could not wait for the next issue of Motor Trend to be delivered so I could see all the great car designs (and read the articles). In the early 80's I wanted a new Corvette and my father said "If you get a Corvette now what will you have to look forward...

.. they did a fine job ! Remember, they had to start off with the standard Astra but i think they got the lines a lot better ... still an Ople (Vauxhall) though ... Ouch indeed. Bim

Thanks for this post TM. Very cool, never realized that the scissor doors were actually styled from Gandini and Bertone in the Carabo. I mistakenly thought it was from Lambo. Regards, ED-209
