The Sierra was a true marvel in its time and the Lotus Carlton likewise, even if only around 280 were sold in the UK. Was a much bigger hit in Germany, where the unlimited highways allowed it to be enjoyed more of the time. However it was heinously expensive to build (a bit like the Porsche fettled Mercedes 500E of the times), so they tried for something simpler and more profitable with the Omega V8. Finally not to be 🤷🏻♂️

Just like the Audi RS2 one of the projects that tied Porsche over, while the brand was skirting around bankruptcy in the late 1980s, early 1990s. And a glorious machine 🦾

In the then regular time, as also available in the R129 SL, for instance. Porsche had unused production and R&D capacity so both Audi and Mercedes jumped in. They also helped Skoda (before both became part of the VW empire), as well as Subaru for a while....
