Moving some blue and silver stuff for a friend, Part 2
I eased the sleepy monster onto the road, and the skies opened up and began pelting Palm Springs with a rare winter rain.
Since this was my friend's car, with a massive carbon splitter on it, and hard not-quite-round tires, I decided to take the freeway up to Riverside and back down to San Diego.
The mountains can wait for another day.
I noticed the SVT (special vehicle team) logo lit up whenever the supercharger began to boost the intake charge. And yes, sharp-eyed readers will notice the car has accumulated only 2300 miles in 12 years.

As I was discovering that the Shelby "rides like a truck" over freeway joints, I saw this transporter in the distance and effortlessly charged up to it.
Nice cargo!

Yes, I am taking pictures. Yes, I know it's not safe. Yes, I do it for y'all.
Let me say this -- I have driven lots of slow and fast cars. But this is the first one that can spin its tires at 60 mph in 4th gear, at 1/4 throttle! Yeeow! It won't spin them in 5th or 6th though. Thankfully.

After slogging through ninety minutes and miles, plus several back-ups caused by minor accidents (other people's, not mine), the roads began to dry up.
I hope you appreciate these non-sunny photos of San Diego's back country.

I know the car has a radio, because a big speaker takes up half the trunk and another one bulging out of the door bangs into my left shin. But I never turned it on because the engine was all I needed to hear. And the suspension. I have figured out that the Traction Control is on but lets the tires spin a bit anyway, every time I give it a bit of throttle.

The stiff 6-speed shifter has very close and very short throws, so I manage to miss a gear or two, even paying very close attention!
The engine didn't seem to mind clearing its throat as I charged under my favorite freeway bridge.

But then the rains began again, this time viciously, as if promising me there would be BIG TROUBLE if I tried to enjoy myself. I left the car in 4th and proceeded with caution to my friend's house.

The car was dropped off safely, I collected my wife who had been dog-sitting for the Mustang's owner, and we made it home in one piece.
My 1969-vintage, newly-restored Seiko didn't feature on a Seiko walk today, but was happily running ON TIME anyway.
I promise I'll get some better photos of the Mustang when things dry up a bit. For now I just want to sit quietly and let my vibrating body relax. Driving that beast in the rain took it out of me, and I have car-moving chores of my own to worry about...
