They would punch from the back of the gold disc, then silver whiten the front , then sand down through the silvering to show the gold of the disc. That's quite a process! Applying numerals is also nice. ...

The embossed dial has numerals that are flush (they sand down to the gold disc), applied numerals are raised up.

Your numerals look applied and when I looked into it learned that Journe made this switch. I love them either way. The applied ones look fabulous!
I really really appreciate you bringing it up because we are all detail oriented people in this hobby.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the numerals and how they shine. But the idea of them being embossed is just more exciting. I wanted the dial makers to really struggle, you know 🤣🤣😁 Even if the end result isn’t as shiny
