The CBR900RR is also on my list, but for everyday use, I still prefer the 600.
Then the monster, it is everything you want in a bike: handling, feelings, even the vibrations that get to your hands are, in my experience, what a bike should be. Oh! And the sound with aftermarket Termignoni mufflers (titanium, not carbon), is so sweet. Of the modern ones, the 796 is the sweetest to me.
That experience you had with the Bimota is so frightening. I had read about it lack of stability, but never to that extent!!!
Fortunately your experience and instinct saved the day! Never let go the handlebars, never! I’m glad you made it almost fine for what could have happened! 😰
It has happened to me, not with bikes, but with a lifted 4x4 pick up at high speed, suddenly I had to steer to avoid a car that changed lane without looking at the mirror. The pick up stared to behave like a snake, but never tipped. All you had to do is not to hit the brakes, hold tight the steering wheel and step off the gas. Eventually the wheel alignment take control (gyroscopic effect). Of course I didn’t get a bruise. But how scared I was! When I got down of the car I was shaking!
Thanks for sharing, dear Bim.
