I'm not a "car person" necessarily, but...
...I really enjoy watching Top Gear episodes. Sometimes the episodes are simply zany and not that informative, but many times I find that the episodes make cars less intimidating and accessible for non-car buffs. Also, I find that I notice interesting aspects of cars when I watch this program. For example, I recently watched an episode about a car called an Ascari A10, I believe. First of all, I had never heard of an Ascari. I learned that it houses a modified BMW engine of some sort (sometimes I admit I tune out during some of the "techy" parts). Then, the other thing I thought was interesting when the Stig (I adore the Stig, by the way!) was driving around the test track was that the shifter in the car was much taller it seemed than a normal one. Perhaps, it was the camera angle, but these are the weird little aspects that intrigue me about car programs, and Top Gear in particular. Anyhow, I just wanted to say that I enjoy reading our new Auto forum, even if I don't have much to contribute by way of knowledge.

I am working on an " enhancement " list on my Volvo, with some urgent repairs, as the Servo Brake which is a bit deficient, and a few small other things. Then, I will go step by step, but the car is already very nice and in great condition... Some 30 year...

Love Top Gear even if it is not a serious car program....
Needless to say informative and serious car programs are boring. Top Gear is pure entertainment and i enjoy it even if they work with storyboards to keep the interest and not the objectivity. Car tests are just to be considered for the emotional interest ...
I do find some of the driving...

You notice that on the good driving scenes when Jeremy is supposed to be driving....
The windows are either blurred or darkened. Otherwise fun if you want just to relax and have fun! Most of the car programs do not share emotions. It is fully loaded on my ipad for boring flights. Best regards Luc
