Both for me too

I have 4 manual transmission, analog vehicles; no radios or a/c in 3 of them. All with a spare tire. They have character (to excess).
Now we also have 2 digital vehicles; voice activation, automatic, a/c, etc. One with spare, one with run-flat tires. We also live in an area which is mostly urban, but along the border where huge tracts of rural country are without any mobile phone coverage, so streaming or downloading services such as OnStar are limited in utility.

Twilight OR Bright New Sunny Day... I have asked this question before and I hope you are not tired of it. Today's discovery is ROAD & TRACK magazine has devoted a 2-month, 160-page special edition to this question. I must not be alone in my ambivalenc...

Luxury is not getting stranded

There's something to be said for un-plugging, and I certainly appreciate cars that require involvement. But I also know that vintage cars break down at inconvenient times even with diligent upkeep. Taking a modern Corvette on a road trip with zero percent...

A valid point, but zero percent is a very low number

There have been at least 6 recalls on our new Corvette, for example (perhaps more). My new Volt picked up a spike on the road with 1200 miles, punctured the run-flat tire with too large a hole for the inflator kit ... required tire dealer to remove and re...

I guess I've been lucky

My 2015 Volt has never had a problem. Even a nail in the tire stayed put long enough to reach a garage and get a fix. But all of the older cars I've owned required contingency planning. Best, Tim

Wow.....

What a great question ...

In an ideal world both, as I feel that they complement each other. We talk about the freedom of an analog car but the reality is that a modern car gives great freedom to drive great distances on all weathers and arrive at the destination still relatively ...

This is a great topic

And such a fascinating one to answer, because it is so multi-dimensional. Many people cannot choose and although in some areas we have made great strides in making affordable, entry-level digital products, for many people struggling financially, analog is...

Yes, and attitude is important too

Do you see a car as an appliance, like a dishwasher, or sporting equipment, like a tennis racquet?

When you have what you need , everything else is luxury. Go for it!

I say: both
