These Alinghi Team carbon pics make me cringe. I've never seen one in such horrible condition :P I keep looking at your pics and I'm not sure if it's just the lighting/flash that makes the carbon look all mangled up or if the carbon is actually indeed bea...

He is not definitely a careful person as we can see. He just wears the watch and don't think/care about scratches, dings or whatever. The watch is running great and keeping perfect time, by the way. Vte

Several people asked: How could the damage seen occur? Easy. If you are reaching into openings or past ropes...these things happen when you're using your hands. I'm more impressed that a 'high end' watch got treated like a g-shock and came out with flying...

I wear my AP's every day. Since I wear short sleeve shirts, the watch has no protection, but living with the little nicks and scratched beats the heck out of not wearing my AP's. JerryW

Let it be a given that carbon forge has lower surface abrasion resistence than 316L steel, so we don't need to repeat that point again; no one is disagreeing with that fact. Cheers, TM

quite rough treatment to a nice watch... this texture of beaten-up forged carbon reminds me of those 15 year old balling balls in the playarea of the university... now that I think about it, forged carbon itself looks like those balling balls in black??? ... 

but one of the design parameters of CF is lightness.
