Whatever truth or science there may be to this, it most definitely suits them to have a recurring revenue stream like this. I don’t think I’d change my behavior. Service when needed.
That excuse for the calibres makes no sense
The reality is that rolex has a way bigger engineering budget because they sell millions of watches. AP is big but rolex is even bigger. The offshore famously has quite a few problems with the crowns falling out etc.
Same for me, Sal. Never a problem on an Offshore.
Royal Oak, yes, that happened to me one time and was promptly, and correctly, repaired by AP.
Only when something wrong.
Unfortunately, I’ve had something wrong with two watches this year and both are still under warranty. Perhaps they need to be serviced more frequently because build quality has declined?
I service when they stop running.
That’s served me well so far, this being my 40th year of collecting.
