Audemars Piguet

In this price range around $60k the SS 41mm perpetual 26574 or SS 41mm open worked 15407. Which would you pick? Which is the better long term investment?...  

I would just get the one I like for keeps. Between the two, I prefer the openworked You won't go wrong either way!=) J

Neither qualify as investments if return of value is an issue.

As far as investment preference, neither: buy the one you like the most and be prepared to lose quite a bit of money. IMO, neither of those pieces will be "collectible" in an investment sense, just as virtually all ROs (except the original 70s models) at ... 

I guess the question is which will hold value better over the years.

I see the openworks as a piece a collector gets after he has a few other AP watches. But if i was to buy one that appeals to a much broader segment i would say the perpetual. Bottom line the watch that makes the broadest smile on your face is the right on... 

In all truthfulness, if I could only own 1 single AP, it would not be an Openworks Royal Oak.

is what you'll get the most enjoyment from during your years of ownership. But since you asked...since the perpetual calendar is $60K and I believe the skeleton is $45K, you might lose less on the skeleton (also having saved $15K on the initial purchase).... 

First of all you buy a watch you really desire before thinking about a LT investment IMHO. Best wishes Alkiro

I agree with comment regarding options on alternative perpetual calendars. Between the two I think the openworked AP would be my pick as novelty.
