I also had the same rotor problem.

Straight out of the factory!
Meaning no quality control was applied otherwise they would have noticed it right away. You start to wonder if the same person worked on all of these rotors??
Now the movement is invented by JLC long time ago and has been in use for decade(s) so that is most certainly not the lemon.
The lemon is in the quality control and/or service centers. This shows especially when reading dr. Kol's story. If it goes wrong so many times there must be some sort of structural problem. I'm sure it will be solved.
Having said all that; mine went back once and is operating perfectly fine since. I must add that I probably have not worn it more than a 8 weeks al together though so let's see how it performs a year from now...
What bothers me most is that AP does not give any sort of explanation or a simple: we're sorry. Michael can say there are many happy owners, and that's true, but that doesn't changes the fact that there has been a structural problem with the assembling of the rotor (parts). Statistically there is no denying in this.
But I am going to end this with a picture:
Because this shows the pure beauty of Genta's design and why so many love this watch. An icon!

Question on AP Jumbo Reliability
By: furen : April 28th, 2016-20:42
Hi, I read in a post here that many are having problems with the 2120 movement, is this true? Since, It is only a time only movement with no second hand, what is the reason for sending it back for service? Is the time off by 5 minutes or more? Or does it ...
My RO Anniversary and QP
By: dr.kol : April 28th, 2016-22:50
had both the same problem: the automatic winding was/is not working. I bought both watches new and the problems appeared in weeks. The standard 1502 was serviced, it worked only a couple of days and the same problem appeared again within days. Then it was...
Did you use a winder?
By: furen : May 3rd, 2016-20:41
Hi, There is a suggestion in a post below that the winder cost the problem. Just want to know if you used a winder? I know that even you used a winder, the watch must not have any difficulties. It is out of curiosity that i am asking. Many thanks.
Some issues with the date
By: carlosaem : April 29th, 2016-19:06
Hello, I also have the jumbo anniversary and in addition to the problems described above by Kari, the date sometimes does not change by itself. You have to manually move the crown of the watch in order to do it. When I first reported this issue to AP they...
Mine has been utterly perfect, as so many others have also experienced.
By: MichaelC : April 29th, 2016-20:01
You no doubt have read about Dr. Kol's horrible experiences with AP, and the other guy who just made his very first post here saying the same. I have read of a few other problems too. But there are countless satisfied owners. For me, it has been the most ...
Thanks

Nice to hear good experiences in owning a jumbo. I really want one, hopefully I do not get a lemon when I get a chance.

Time in service
By: furen : May 1st, 2016-03:33
How long did the service take for the rotor? I usually get simple time only watches but have started collecting chrono. I just had my Patek annual chrono and legend of Arnold roo serviced. Each took 3 months for service. This jumbo is a dream of mine but ...
Within 2 months

I guess it helped that it was repaired here in Amsterdam. There is a big AP service center here.
Winders?
By: furen : May 3rd, 2016-20:42
Hi, So have you heard stories that the winders caused the problems? Thanks
I have known, owned, and regularly used watches based on the cal. 2120 since 1976.
By: ThomasM : May 17th, 2016-17:31
Hi, Francis, I have owned and regularly worn watches using the 2120, 2121, and various complications built on top of the famous caliber, since 1976. I have never experienced any problems with any of my timepieces - they have been highly reliable, robust, ...
Love the movement
By: furen : May 18th, 2016-08:11
The real reason I am interested in getting a jumbo is because of the movement. The previous jumbo and other models with the same movement did not interest me. This current jumbo really speaks to me. However, it is very hard to acquire through normal chann...
You shouldn't get depressed. Things break down.

People make mistakes. Also at AP. Apparently there have been some quality control problems (albeit technical and/or communicative), but I\'m sure AP will have looked into these things. It\'s a lovely watch!
