Two completely different watches, both in pedigree, price and perception.
The D1 Milano Polycarbon is my daily wear. I bought it before last years London trip and it has helped me grow into the appreciating the smaller sized watches from Audemars Piguet.
I first got the chance to try on a Jumbo back in 2022 and was a bit put back by the watch; I found it too delicate and petite. Now, I was coming from the Offshore-line and in hindsight it is understandable why I thought like I did.
My perception has changed very much thanks to this rather unremarkable watch of 40,5mm. I quite adore it for that. I do now believe 40mm would be the ultimate sweet spot, at least for me.
Besides, I kinda imagine ceramic to feel like how the D1 does. I have no idea to be honest. The only ceramic watch I have tried on from Audemars Piguet is the 26420CE, but that is an Offshore after all.
Anybody with the same experience as me?
Anyway, I do hope that Audemars Piguet comes out with 40mms in the future.
Happy spring!
Eik

You are absolutely right mate, and lucky to have so many pieces! It is just a little peculiar to me that they so many sizes that have 1mm difference, yet no 40mm. IWC with Ingenieur and Patek Philippe with Nautilus and Aquanauts have had 40mm sizes. I do ...
