AP15305OR, now a classic?

I don't believe AP has officially announced if the Openworked 15305 Royal Oaks will be phased out with the arrival of the newer 15407 Openworked models, but it seems likely.  The new double balance wheel  model is most impressive, but I have no regrets over my 39mm model, especially in the colored gold case.

I contemplated a strap change earlier, but decided to stay with the OEM gator.  I have several other straps to fit the watch, and was curious how black would look.

A naked 15305OR.  You really appreciate the heft of the case without the strap attached.

Perforated black calf.  Very interesting against the pierced movement.

Smooth black rubber.  The darker color really changes the look.

Alas, the profile of the plot is slightly changed on this Royal Oak.  Nonetheless, the straps still mount to the plots in the normal manner, but a very small space is visible between the bottom of the plot and the recess on the strap.  Most might not notice or even care, but MichaelC just can't do it.

Beautiful from the back.  The open rotor is a necessary detail to admire the movement.

I'm so enamored with the artistic qualities of this AP.  The designer in me has nothing but appreciation for the execution of the openworking.

Not overly see-through, which is good in my opinion.

Back together and ready for service.  It is also interesting to note that the length of this OEM strap is slightly shorter on each side than the other OEM straps I have for 39mm cases.  This size fits me just a little better, so if I decide to go with a black strap, I'll likely place a custom order.

One thing to agree upon, an Openworked Royal Oak is like no other watch in the world smile
