Its not a bad trade...

at all -

Although, I'm not following your thought process completely.

If you already have a 5726 - why would you want a 5726 1/a on bracelet?  Does one need this many steel watches?

Also - what is the dial color on your 15202?  If its SS/White the PC and the Jumbo are also "duplicates" in my opinion.

But - it you are happy, we are happy for you!

Good luck and enjoy! The AP RO PC is as classic as Coke!

Best regards,

asg

Would you trade a PP 5980 for a RO Perpetual Calendar?

 By: daytonaman799 : April 2nd, 2012-17:40
I am very close to trading a PP 5980 for a NIB RO Perpetual Calendar with a blue dial. Is this a trade you think worth doing. I always liked the RO PC. The argument against the trade is the ability of the AP to hold it's value vs the AP. Aesthetically the...

The trade is up to your personal taste.

However, the "market value" of PP 5980 is somewhat higher than the same of AP RO Perpetual. Best, Kari

pp 5980 for sure

as I cannot read anything on the cramped AP RO PC dial.

Keep the 5980.

The 5980 has the advantage on the water resistance of 120m over the 50m on AP. and 5980 really true sport watch. I heard some member have wore them all the times during gym, at beach, during sport activities etc.

If you have to ask...

...then you're unsure. If you're unsure, and you trade, you will most likely eventually regret it. At least that's the way it has always worked for me. I've regretted almost every trade I'v ever made. As far as my choice...I would keep the PP, no question...

I understand....

I do. But the two pieces are different. The RO Perpetual is an ultra slim bracelet watch. It is not a "sport" watch - it is a watch which can be worn sporty, casual or with a jacket and tie. Its a RO, the design (to me and I own nautilus variants too) is ...

It's very funny.....the AP guys say keep the PP and the PP guys say get the RO.

I think I am going to do it. My biggest hesitation is that I could sell my 5980 to fund a purchase of an5726 1/a. My goal on that front is to sell my 3700. It's very funny how watch guys are. I feel like if I can get the 5726 1/a it would supplant the 598...

I would keep the Patek...

But that is because I already have two AP's with a third one on the way. For me the 5980 will be the next watch that I commit to if I decide that I want 4 high end watches. I personally would like a Patek as one of the watches that I own, having been to t...

I do have 3 other Nautiluses...5712, 3700/11j, and 5726a

I have two AP's a ROO Alinghi Dual Time and a 15202 Jumbo. I was just thinking a PC is better than a chrono and i am thinking of buying the 5726 1/a which would replace the 5980. I bought the 5980 bec i didnt think a 5726 1/a was an option. either way my ...

My vote is for the AP RO PC...

It's a tough choice with all those excellent watches you're considering but I'm a little bit biased and have to vote for the AP RO PC. Good luck and post pics of when you get it. Regards, ED-209

Another vote for AP RO...did you read ED209 review below?

The RO QP is a much rarer watch then the ubiquitous 5980. Best, Horo

made the trade today and the RO PC is GREAT

When I went ot go see it person I handed everything over without hesitation. It's just a great piece. Thanks for all your thoughts and here is wishing all a great holiday weekend.

Let me be the first to congratulate you on a fine trade and acquisition.

Do remember to post some shots soon. Best, Horo

Congratulations and welcome to the world of AP!

In the end, it is really hard to compare a chrono to a perpetual calendar, it's like comparing a Lexus LFA to an AMG sedan - both are excellent, but different. (I noticed in the PP forum you mentioned you have a Ferrari, hope the car analogy makes sense) ...

Congrats!

Glad to hear you finalize your deal. I'd always choose the horological content in a ro pc over the chrono in 5980.
