You might be the bigger Lange expert!
Mar 28, 2023,19:11 PM
I've only been to the factory three times, I think you've been many times more. So you might be the bigger expert here. I'm not sure about the case for the Tourbograph, but many models, probably even most models, are one craftsman produced. This is mainly the movement. Sometimes the watchmaker installs the dial, sometimes the watchmaker even cases the movement. But I would say most watchmakers are just assembling the movement, then the movement goes to a team of testing and quality control people. Then there's probably another team to case movements. I don't remember everything that I saw, and things have probably changed since the last time I was at the factory which was many years ago. True, if Lange wanted to put more watchmakers on the project, they could finish sooner, but those other watchmakers are still busy with other models such as the honey gold spilt seconds model from last year!

I forgot to mention that if it is anything like the Datograph, the actuation should have that Lange buttery Shnick Shnick like feel when using the chronograph function
Well, to be entirely fair...

These watches actually take a really long time to make. The movement is made by one master craftsman. It's not like an assembly line process which is employed at Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe, etc. Many of their chronographs are made in an assembly ...

I can only wonder as well.
Well said, Sir,

Though if I may add: I think that not everything is done entirely by one watchmaker. For example let's take the Tourbograph. The chronograph part is assembled by one watchmaker, then the calendar module is by another and tourbillon is by another, etc. Am ...

I'm not a fan of the Odysseus personally.

But hey, some people really like it! Good for them! The Chairman of Richemont, Mr. Rupert, really likes his Odysseus, the last I heard, it's probably his daily wearer.
