To be honest ...

I do not not wind the Lange-1 to its maximum to prevent damage, I simply make sure that IF I need some medicine (smooth winding pleasure) I can get it; as a side effect I never can overwind it.

With the Lange-1 it is easy to see when you have (almost) wound the watch completely and you can anticipate the force with which you wind the watch depending on the position of the PR hand.

With the Dato I am much more carefull

Edwin

Lange 1 troubles

 By: hpwu : September 26th, 2006-03:03
Just today, my Lange 1 went on the fritz again...I was pulling out the crown to reset the time after winding it up from empty. The power reserve then snapped from full to empty. After talking to Alkis on the phone, I had to ship it back to him for repairs...

Hmm sad to hear ...

Thanks for all the feedback...I actually feel a little bit better after reading carsten's experience, so I know Alkis isn't tackling a unique problem. Hopefully it'll be the last time I'll have this issue. I guess I can follow Edwin's lead and not wind it...
