The TZ is the clear winner between these two
It retains the beautiful symmetry of the L1 centrally and adds useful complications. Having said that the better way to go is an L1 plus a Patek 5110, but I guess that combo is not one of the choices.
To be candid, I don't like the Grand L1. Many companies have made mistakes chasing the large watch fad, and unfortunately Lange is no exception. This watch has an akward dial, nothing like the "standard" L1. Also shows how small changes in proportion can make or break a watch design.
If you want a large watch get the L1 TZ.

my father had the same problem. but he picked the timezone bcuz it was more usefull and he didnt like the overall look of the grand.

For the Lange Time zone, seeing it next to the Lange 1 , it seems to make the 1 look a bit bare somehow, the timezone looks stunning. Mind you I am liking that moonphase a lot also! Look forward to some nice pics once you have your new addition
