New to me Lange 1 20th anniversary
Came across this at my local dealer and couldn't resist. It's a Lange 1 20th Anniversary in platinum. The picture makes it appear to be a gray dial, but it is black. It is almost darth like in its appearance except for the spectacular guilocche. Under certain lighting conditions, the guilocche disapears and the watch does look like a Lange darth. The third picture, while not as sharp, does give a better sense of the blackness of the dial. Watch is in near perfect condition and any smudges are the results of the photographers incompetance 
.
The back is finished with Lange detail which is always spectacular to me. The swan's neck has a little 20 engraved into it to mark the anniversary. According to Hodinkee, there were 20 of these watches produced in 2014 and were sold in pairs; One ladies and one gentlemans. This pair was split at some point in the past and only the gentleman's was available for me to buy.
This is actually my first platinum watch and I'm quite thrilled. I have always been a bit indimidated by the weight of platinum, but the Lange 1 size makes it manageable. I have a Lange 1 moonphase day/night and really had no plans to buy another Lange 1, but this watch just stunned me.

Thanks for the kind words. everyone. Your comment is quite profound. When I hunt for a watch, my expectations are high and I sometimes end up somewhat disappointed. But just running into a watch that sings to me has never let me down.
My pleasure! Acquiring a new watch is a very personal
and emotional experience. Letting your heart decide is the best way to find a piece you will stick to for a long period of time (forever?). Just my 2c.

The 20th anniversary pieces were superb as I recall, and being able to purchase one from a split pair makes it all the better! The darth guilloche is incredible, and must have been quite the rush to see it and be able to pull the trigger. I've owned more ...
