The Dato was thick , it was wobbling on my wrist and never kept a steady time (all Lange’s are prone to temperature deviation) and the little details like numerals , proportions... the Patek wins in my book . But also you can see a review on HODINKEE, about this watches and you’ll see yourself who prevails .
I think we can agree that if Patek would want to make a triple split they would and I’m sure it would be thinner and smaller than the Lange ...
Also look at the 5990 , I think that’s also pretty unique complication , don’t you think ?
About the Dato Perpetual, I had it in a loan from a friend and all indications are cramped in the sundials and very hard to read , and the case size it’s big and thick compared to the rival Patek .
I was a big fanatic of the brand but as my knowledge depend with the technical part of watchmaking I realized that finishing it’s not more than one aspect of the game .
Also please don’t forget that a Patek can be serviced by any competent watchmaker but Lange don’t , so to me this is also very important point when comparing brands .
I like the triple split as an engineering achievement but I would never give up a 5370 , or a 5004 .
So I took time to understand Lange and I think a top brand is not just finishing or a new movement, it’s much more than that ....
But your triple split is gorgeous and hope it will get lots of wrist time not safe time 😂.
