I've been using a first-gen Dato to do timed exercises for a class all week and have really been enjoying the feel of the pushers. I encounter very little resistance. It's almost like a digital watch, but better because there's that barely perceptible "click."

I have a 1st generation Datograph and like you I purchased it second hand. The start/stop and reset pushers are very easy and smooth to operate and from previous comments I read and heard about that is how they should feel. I strongly suggest you take it ...
