I have doubted a long time between the 1815 or a Richard Lange. And I was favoring the RL by 0.09%. Until this black beauty came along. Rest is history. But I\'m by no means stating that I will never own a RL. ...

I find them quite different at the end. The contrast of the big second hand is very nice to observe on the PT one. The WG is globally more legible. We shall own both of them! Fx

I guessed it right! I sense you were getting a Lange Richard Lange to complete your collection I thought you would go for the pink gold or Plat version - the WG boutique edition is probably the nicest if we like blued hands Enjoy in the best of health my ... 

The RL is doubtless one of the finest time-only watches in series production today, and like you I admire the focus on chronometry (bested by the RL PLM, yes, but I\'m not a coloured metals chap). The WG version is beautiful indeed - I love those blued ha...

I think that piece is the nicest dial/case combo of the RL. You have built a nice collection there, wear the RL well! Tony

Can you kindly elaborate what you meant by "touch the crown and the watch will start???" Pardon my ignorance on a Lange manual...can't imagine that. Rgds Raymond

What Fx is referring to: is that literally a quarter turn from a dead stop of the movement starts the seconds hand. For many watches it requires several turns to build up enough energy in the mainspring to "start" the watch. The RL and a few other's don't... 

And this is because the Richard Lange has a mechanism to stop the watch early before its mainspring is fully exhausted in order to keep timekeeping precision to a maximum.

That's an excellent choice to add to your collection. Just a trivial note on the roman numerals. I like how the 4 is "IIII" instead of "IV". Something that I read online: "Roman numerals are not a purely additive number system. In particular, instead of u... 

I cannot find it now as the book(s) are huge but it is all about (the Lange love of) symmetry. This certainly started with their pocket watches. Using 'IIII' creates more visual symmetry with the 'VIII' opposite it on the dial than 'IV' does. Using IIII a... 

i.e. the "Watchmaker's Four". Now that I think of it, I can't think of many examples of a roman numeral watch that still uses IV (the only one in my mind is the Ball Trainmaster with Roman Numerals) Regards, skyeriding

your pictures highlight those lovely blued hands most elegantly! I find both the Pt and the WG version alluring in their own way; I don't own one but I've been lucky to have friends who do! I love the subtle red accents on the Pt version, and the blued ha...

Great narrative and, as always, excellent wrist shots. I have tried the Richard Lange on the wrist a few times and it is very captivating. Elegant but bold with finishing that is well above par for the price.

I am only up to a trio in my Lange collection! I had a platinum RL few years ago; but sold it to fund another purchase. I have smallish wrists; and would probably look to get an older version 1815 as my 3 hand time only watch. Never been a big fan of seco... 

The former 1815 is a great watch, I love the PT version ... and the PG one with its PG hands. Its 36mm diameter is perfect for an elegant watch. Fx
