Seriously, I tried with normal human reasonable force simulating a "mistake" and nothing happened. There was resistance that no reasonable person should be able to overcome with brute force. Any more force is assault and battery with premeditated intent to cause grevious bodily harm.

Don't try it at home! I meant that when I feel the resistance, I don't dare to push further (as the depth required by resetting the hands). But it did feel like it's possible to push it deeper. If I got a chance to meet Robert by myself again, I would ask...

I cringe at the very thought of tempting fate with such an experiment.
Maybe I'm missing something but why would anything bad happen when chronograph is not running?
I know you should not do that while it is running but the opposite seems benign.
