I hadn't thought about the fact that all those different Lange chronograph models were released with black dials. Thanks for pointing that out. It looks like the Gen2 1815 chrono (the one without the pulsations scale) was never made with a black dial -- I got curious because I don't recall seeing one.
RG/black dial does have a certain unique warmth. I have been wearing a simpler 1815 model with that combination this past week which reminded me of how special this is.

Taken by a large window on a clear day, with indirect sun. The dial steps are quite hard to capture but are very distinct here.

No: it’s not every generation - it’s every model. You are correct in saying that the second generation 1815 Chronograph never had a black dial.
