Indexless balance
Sep 21, 2020,04:19 AM
Hi all,
Linked to my thread in the IWC forum, I have been reading about the IWC 52000 family of movements. The company talk about the use of an indexless balance as a positive.
It may be that I do not understand what an indexless balance is but I thought it is not considered a high quality balance? As in balance with weight adjusted index, etc are better. So why does IWC seem to promote it as a positive?
Many thanks,
Chi Kai

That clears it up! In photos of the movement, I can see some screws in the balance wheel. So the “indexless” term does not refer to the screws/ weight on the balance wheel but refers to the regulator pin? Thank you! BW, Chi Kai
