Hi all, Linked to my thread in the IWC forum, I have been reading about the IWC 52000 family of movements. The company talk about the use of an indexless balance as a positive. It may be that I do not understand what an indexless balance is but I thought ...

The term "indexless balance" is imprecise terminology and the root of your confusion.

The 52000-series is free-sprung, and they no-doubt meant that it does not have a curb-pin regulator (sometimes called an index regulator). Hope this helps. Brandon

That clears it up! In photos of the movement, I can see some screws in the balance wheel. So the “indexless” term does not refer to the screws/ weight on the balance wheel but refers to the regulator pin? Thank you! BW, Chi Kai
