Hi, CC, it seems we are totally d'accord about the specs.
Jul 18, 2017,05:32 AM
The only difference is the way we handle them.
I enjoy taking the to the water and using them for what they were made.
But your approach is absolutely understandable too.
Best, Martin

Take care! Not every P15 is as watertight as HSTE's.
By: stromer : July 18th, 2017-02:10
Encouraged by the 10bar rating and reassured by HSTE\'s experience I took myP15 into the water yesterday. It did bot go deeper than half a meter, no heavy swimming, no plunging into the water, crown and pushers were left untouched. Today morning I found s...
Of course NOT

you should be able to snorkel with it without any hesitation. 100m is 100m.
Things happen.
By: Nono01 : July 18th, 2017-02:31
This things happen, even with brand new dive watches. But it leaves the bitter taste since it's brand new
Hi CC, then what is the idea of a 10 bar rated watch?
By: stromer : July 18th, 2017-05:20
It means "Good for anything except scuba/apnoe diving.". I understand your point of going out of harms way and to avoid trouble e.g. by only submerging real dive watches. On the other hand I am not willing to make it that easy to the manufacturers. If the...
I'm not trying to justify what happened nor is it your fault
By: crown comfort : July 18th, 2017-05:27
I fully agree. Even if they put 30m WR on it, it should actually withstand some swimming. Even by manufacturer guideline, a 100m WR is good for swimming, so clearly a problem with Zenith. It was just me personally, I don't really need a watch when swimmin...
Fully agree
By: Arie - Mr Orange : July 18th, 2017-06:47
you should also be able to scuba dive! Why not?
Not with a watch rated 100m.
By: stromer : July 18th, 2017-14:07
100m for a watch is not 100m diving depth but 100m static water column corresponding to 10 bar water pressure. The problem is that 10 bar can be reached at shallow depths by e.g. plunging into the water or by fast movements of the arm. No,idea which brill...

I am over freaking out when a watch fails for the first time.
By: stromer : July 18th, 2017-05:25
These tiny fragile mechanisms are so complex that failure can happen. What counts to me is the way a manufacturer deals with it when it happens. It is my first Zenith. Let's see how they will perform. Best, Martin

Moisture in watch "emergency"
By: chippyfly : July 18th, 2017-03:46
Last year on holiday in the Caribbean and wearing one of my vintage watches I was caught in an unexpected, massive storm on a small but speeding ferry between islands. There was little shelter on board the ferry with the rain and wind sheeting through the...
Dear HSTE, please rest at ease.
By: stromer : July 18th, 2017-05:50
I am not putting any blame in you. Nothing, rien, niente, nada. As I answered to your post I had decided to take it as a vacation watch before, which includes getting it wet. When I wrote reassured by your post I only meant that your P15 was confirming wh...
Not a big thing but one that myst not happen.
By: stromer : July 18th, 2017-05:54
Thanks for your offer I will see to get it dried and then have it checked when back home. Only help I will need will be by the P15 team to tell me about the best way to contact Zenith because my AD is not a Zenith contractor. Thank you my friend, Martin
That it does.

Bummer :(
By: Ares501 - Mr Green : July 18th, 2017-05:42
That shouldn't have happened It's under warranty so all will end well Just don't do it again Keep us posted D
Thanks, Mr. D.
By: stromer : July 18th, 2017-05:59
I read that like CC you don't take your watches to water. It is the first time that 10bar watch fails on me. The G.O. Seventies Chrono did better. Most important thing will be now that Zenith will handle it properly. More important than JCB's signature on...
Thank you very much, Abel.
By: stromer : July 18th, 2017-12:48
It takes more than that to spoil a watch to me. Especially if it is a special one like this. As long as they sort out the issue like this properly and in decent time everything will be fine. Warmest regards, Martin

Oh man.... that hurts
By: patrickmaniac : July 18th, 2017-07:18
Hope the zenith team is near to where you are and able to fix it quickly. Moisture inside a watch even with silicon stuff, not a good match up. Cheers PAt
Thanks Patrick!
By: stromer : July 18th, 2017-12:59
I think that will have to wait until I will be back home. Fortunately it was not too much water that intruded. Best, Martin
I am very sorry for you Martin, but Zenith will handle it professionally.
By: MichaelC : July 18th, 2017-07:40
I have no doubts. Some of the replies are quite dramatic, but you are on top of it. Believe me, I know the feeling of getting the "one" that fails, but comparing this to the catastrophic failure of my Montblanc 1858, I believe you are in good hands. And y...
Dear Michael, thank for your word of encouragement.
By: stromer : July 18th, 2017-13:09
II have followed Th e story of your Montblanc and it left me speechless. Even if Montblanc more or less purchased their watch business they should know from their high level fountain pen business how to treat a customer. I have been through worse things t...

By: descartes1 : July 18th, 2017-08:11
As a rule I won't swim with any chronograph unless it has screw down pushers.
Thank you!
By: stromer : July 18th, 2017-13:13
But screw down pushers or not. It was not me who rated the watch 10bar water resistant. If it was not brand new I would have been more careful because gaskets tend to wear out over time. But it is brand new and - one would assume - factory tested. Best, M...
I agree
By: descartes1 : July 18th, 2017-15:24
It's just a personal thing with me. I'm just skeptical that any chronograph is water resistant if submerged, no matter what the manufacturer says.
And maybe you are right.
By: stromer : July 18th, 2017-23:43
I remember wondering why JLC equipped the Master Compressor line wth these so called "compressor keys" only to rate the watches 10bar then instead of the 20bar one would have expected. Either the keys were a marketing/design gimmick or they were a technic...

By: stromer : July 18th, 2017-13:33
I will let you know in due time how I decided to proceed. Currently I am abroad like you and there is no need to hurry at this moment. If the CP2 was indeed rated 30m then I could and would not complain as 30m qualifies for hashing hands or exposure to ra...
Good luck, Martin,...
By: shortys home : July 18th, 2017-10:44
... with getting that fixed quickly! I would expect Zenith to organize pick-up of the watch and take care of it with priority, also as a sign of their repect to puristspro and the buyers of this very special watch. Fingers crossed! Cheers Henrik
Thank you, Henrik, for your encouragement.
By: stromer : July 18th, 2017-13:37
We will see, now that two key players of the project seem to have left Zenith. I have no personal experience with the company, but I am always open to pleasant surprises. Best, Martin
That's really weird for a 100m rated watch!
By: Makilla : July 18th, 2017-11:59
I mean how did the watch even pass the WR test? Unless they didn't even test it. Who knows? That's one of the reasons I always keep all of my watches away from water. Keep us posted please and sorry again for the bad news. Laurent.
I have no idea either how it would happen.
By: stromer : July 18th, 2017-13:59
I am far from suggesting that Zenith did not test it. But I am not aware of any event either that might have compromised its integrity as long as it has been in my possession. Except pushing the pushers and pulling the crown for setting the time that is. ...
Man made does not mean "flawless"
By: COUNT DE MONET : July 19th, 2017-08:52
Hi Martin, sorry to hear from your problem. Mine had also an issue. The crown did not catch properly when I was winding the watch manually. It was fixed at an authorised dealer within two days. I am sure yours will be fixed the same way quick and to your ...
Thanks for the encouraging example, Moritz
By: stromer : July 19th, 2017-09:29
And you are right. Man made includes the chance of error or flaws. Sometimes minor flaws are not even bad because you can learn from how a company/manufacturer treats its customers in after sales service. A make it or break it factor for me. Thanks again ...
this watch was never intended to be used in the water
By: georgeszaslavsky : July 19th, 2017-09:12
Good luck with the warranty and repair. If you wanted a really water resistant chrono with fully water resistant pushers then you have the semaster professional 300 chrono and the breitling chronomat which has them as well. I don't know if your warranty w...
Hi George, I respectfully disagree.
By: stromer : July 19th, 2017-09:37
The original Cairelli CP 2 was certainty made to be used in the skies and not in the water. The re-edition however is rated 100m water resistant which qualifies it for swimming and skin diving but not for scuba diving. Submerging it to 50cm is within the ...
