I pop in whenever I’m in London to get a “spring clean” of the hat I have with me at the time😊

Interesting traditions…

Since 1819 Burlington Arcade in London has been patrolled by the Burlington Beadles, the oldest and smallest police force in the world. Dressed in a uniform of frock coats, gold buttons and gold-braided Lock & Co. top hats, the Beadles ensure no boisterou...

Didn't know about the ban - but it's a dangerous place

Especially if you like watches - some very nice watch shops along there. I've done my bank account on more than one occasion! The other arcade around the corner is equally dangerous Cheers JML Ps fab photo

Good to hear your thoughts …

It’s traditional to set fire to your credit cards walking through this historic arcade 😉

Very much!

I still like Savile Row too. Need to make it down there during sale time and go check out John Lobb, Crockett and Jones, and Gaziano and Girling (Savile Row). I have several pairs of John Lobb, but don't have any of the CJ nor GG shoes. Crockett and Jones...

My favourite haunt in London!

And I hope to be there later this month. David Duggan, Somlo Antiques, the Vintage Watch Company, and those are only the watch shops. Shoes, Hats, cashmere sweaters, antique jewellery, this is a must for anyone visiting London!

Hi Captain.

Absolutely! Here’s a couple of my Lock & Co acquisitions - a Fairbanks Trilby and a sisal Napoli Hat. And today’s Madison Trilby With today’s watch. ...

Hi Timeout !

Very much alike the fedora I own from Optimo Hats in Chicago........

Another fine hat!

I have a St. James Fedora from Lock & Co which I wear on occasion. It has a little too much brim for me unless I wear it with a top coat. I find it interesting that Fedoras and Trilbys have their name origins in stage plays - quite quirky! In 2 years time...

Quirky indeed!

I had no idea the company was about to turn 350 years of age! What a feat, I've been to London once, but haven't visited that neck of the woods. Next time I'll make sure to correct that 'mistake'. Much appreciate your insight, cheers, Filip

Yes, we enjoy a hat periodically ...

We have quite a few -- like 12 or so (50 or so if you count the ball caps) and we have played the dangerous arcade game too, both summer and winter seasons. Cazalea ...

Hi Mike …

Good to see your collection of hats and photos in the arcades. I see your last photo is in the Piccadilly arcade, another gem. Best Captain

Burlington Arcade is great.

Apart from the great watch shops and Crockett & Jones, there is also the jewellers, Hancocks, who make the Victoria Cross medals. All the best, Jon

But of course dear Cap....

I had no idea about the particularly quaint law enforcement gentry who traverse that street, but I do know a thing or two about quality fedoras as I have had one from Optimo Hats in Chicago for the past twelve years. Now, I haven't actually worn it a sing...

Hi Filip …

Thank you for sharing a photo of your fedora from Optimo Hats in Chicago. It looks very cool.

Always an interesting stroll down this Arcade

....albeit expensive at times. I remember purchasing a pair of Church's there... as well as a dining set of fine China from Gered's,unfortunately no longer there. One of my favourite stops in London, with Cecconi's at the back

Burlington Arcade

When I stay at 128 Piccadilly it is only a single bus stop to the Arcade for a fun visit. Sadly, the perfumery was gone when I last visited. I did buy a vintage Omega for my son several years ago and recently scrutinised some vintage Rolexes, to no avail....

Hi Clive …

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience of the Burlington. It’s a place after many years of having the same shops is changing. Such is life !
