Since 1819 Burlington Arcade in London has been patrolled by the Burlington Beadles, the oldest and smallest police force in the world.
Dressed in a uniform of frock coats, gold buttons and gold-braided Lock & Co. top hats, the Beadles ensure no boisterous behaviour takes place in the arcade.
Singing and whistling are two of the activities banned in the arcade and rigorously enforced by the Beadles, even today.
