That's never nice to experience indeed

A few remarks from your post Christian.
I got my 5712 from the Parisian Salon with the free 3-year-old servicing (given with any new watch), hence, even though the warranty is passed, any problem would have been solved.
I had my watch serviced that way and got it back in February 2016, 3 months after I gave it to the Salon.
From the different posts we have here, it really seems to depend on the region. In the US, the delay seems quite long while I noticed that in Western Europe it seemed rather short. Nevertheless, Patek is aware of the long average servicing delay and that's why they have launched the new M€.500 project a few years ago. We can only wait.
About warranty periods, there is Rolex with the recent move to 5 years but I'm not sure many other brands provide more than 2 years (buying new Patek from the Salon is 2 years + servicing at 3 years, so i imagine it helps going though most of the issues). I would add that some type of complications and thinness may lead to limit the warranty length. Rolex watches are usually not as complicated. But of course I would also be encline to think brands can provide more than 2 years. It is an interesting question but it is hard to tell how fast pieces age in a watch.
I imagine that when a watch is taken for servicing it is put in the queue, even if the matter that needs repairment looks rather simple (even if it is not always as simple as it looks).
It is difficult to know what the problem is concerning "keeping the charge": was it a power reserve problem? or not keeping time? Anyway, I imagine you have your cost estimate which I presume should be the normal servicing cost. If it is a service cost, then, like many high-end brands, it is quite expensive indeed (though in line with the other high-end brands from what I read).
The sticky date is something I don't understand as it's been quite a while we've heard of this issue. However, I heard that in some cases it had to do with a wrong date setting (between 9 pm and 12:30 am if I remember well).
However, I'm sorry you have to go for a servicing routine and that you feel that way.
I hope you'll find in the future a new watch, whatever the brand is, that will provide you the pleasure for the cost and warranty period you expect.
Best, Mark
