Patek Philippe: Here’s my 2 cents (short):

To drive top line growth instead of increase unit production, PP wants to increase average selling price per unit and hence the metal choice. Recent price rise for 5711/1A is further evidence of this strategy. Unsure if WG margin (%) is also better, they might be targeting improvement in margin also

Btw the pictures on the PP official website haven’t changed to the new dial yet-lack of attention to details (the news release said from “mid March”.

Patek Philippe: Agreed. The dial is unlikely to break and needs replacement.

I guess the question is what if someone prefers the new dial and asks for his/her old to be replaced. I wonder if PP would do it.

What compelling reason is there to go out of the way to replace all the old dials for any watch that comes in to a service center? It seems to suggest that they want to stamp out any dramatic rise in the price of the old version (due to scarcity value): if you buy an old one for collection purpose y
