Patek 5711A is now an allocation watch
AD confirmed that it is now an allocation model, with approximately one watch every 6 months delivery.
Really
So must the customer pay in full then they get the allocation? Does this mean you must pay more than retail? Lots of questions sorry.
Allocation to the AD
Approximately 2 per year. How the AD allocate the watch I’m not sure. End users will really be based upon how well the AD knows the customer.
AD told me customers were calling and offered thousands over MSRP.
He had to turn them down.
Different watch, but when I bought my 5726A last October there were 19 people on the list behind me.
Same situation in that people were offering more to try to jump up the list. I can only imagine the situation for the 5711A is even tighter.
How does this differ to the past system? My AD

My understanding of an allocation watch
is that the watch is allocated to 'good' customers as decided by Patek (not the AD). In the UK for example, this would be Rhone Products who distributes to all the ADs. The 5131 series falls into this category too. Previously, one would put his name down ...
Not sure about the UK
Several US AD’s have been saying the same thing. Perhaps with the price hike and tighter supply, it’s no longer business as usual for this model. Just my humble opinion. Perhaps you should ask your AD and let us know.

The UK had theirs in September last year. I will have my customary monthly chat with my UK AD in 10 days time and will definitely touch on this issue. No disrespect meant to the 5711/1A but I wish Patek produced more of these instead of making it an 'allo...

Rhone is arguably more strict or should I rephrase that more fair when it comes to allocation. I think Patek HQ should try to ensure that all its distributors adopt a similar ethos or else consider removing their distributorship. I know at least one count...
After 9 months of waiting
I asked the salon,If they can let me know my number on the list,The answer was incredibly funny “Number 305”.with two watches every year I think I might be able to get mine after not a lot more than 150 years😄 Best, Ahmed
I find it hard to believe that they actually have 300
on a list. They normally don't take names after a certain number.....my gut says Salons will also get far more than 2 a year....

The Salons are different than AD’s. I only spoke with my US AD. Furthermore, the allocation are also dependent on how the AD rankings within. I’m sure some get more than others based on volume.
