Wasn’t fussed on the 17.01 (too small for me), but this I find to be confused and at odds with itself.

I don’t like the:
lugs
radial gradient
lack of numerals/indices
lack of seconds hand
lack of strap in-fill between lugs
price
and the least said about the lumed circle nonsense, the better!
I do like the:
movement
long PR
hands
choice of strap manufacturer
Where I find a severe discord is with the lightly skeletonised movement, only for the blue gradient to block a great portion of light transmission from the dial side when viewing the rear.
For someone with Ming’s expertise in lighting when it comes to photography, this is a major blunder, in my book – if he wanted contrast, all he had to do was opt for blued hands, and a bit of decoration on the dial side of the movement.
I’m reminded of the old adage of running before having learnt to walk – this seems a classic example of where that phrase is particularly apt.
Something in the 2000 region with an Eterna Calibre 39 fitted, would’ve been a better second model rather than this 19.01 – just like
Biatec managed with theirs.
