if we think the only people visiting this site are watch-aholic movement snobs?
And I wonder how we would feel if, on some site, somewhere, some people who buy watches because this celebrity or that sports star wears a particular model, laugh and snicker at "those gear heads who get turned on by some old guy sitting there rubbing and rubbing a piece of metal with a stick of wood, like he was wanking off? And what does all that rubbing do? Does it make the watch more reliable? Does it make it more accurate?
There isn't even a happy ending!
Hrrmph!"
Me personally?
Different strokes for different folks, whatever appeals to someone, fine with me.
I'd rather focus on the positives than the negatives...
As a purist, I try not to be swayed by "image" but rather by substance and "intrinsic value" - yep, there's that horriible phrase again. Funny thing is, to be negatively swayed by an image is to be influenced by image, just as being positively swayed...
Cheers,
