No thanks. I recall visiting a Rolex AD and he was shocked, just shocked that I didn't want to take the Celebs of Rolex piece. He had no other "useful" promotional literature at that time. This is not a swipe at Rolex watches, I have one and quite like it.
@ ztirual: Of course we are influenced by advertisements. Ads that focus on the technical or horological are memorable
(I'm particularly enthralled by the Bucherer ads, although not by their
watches); I have to admit that I've been seduced by Patek's
"Generations" ads (although that's not what caused me to pull the
trigger - or so I think ); but celeb endorsements are a real turn off for me.
That's not to say that these ads are not effective in general. But as watch nuts, we are a separate demographic. Passionate, knowledgeable (perhaps), and give a LOT more thought to these things we adorn our wrists with... But do I care what Tiger wears on his wrist? Not really. Perhaps it is so annoying because it cheapens somehow the horological purity we imagine we possess. Who knows....
