Take a look at the Macan!
Apr 10, 2017,02:35 AM
Porsche Macan S and the Mercedes-Benz GLC43 are catching my eye. Plus easier serviceability as there are more Porsche and Mercedes dealers than Volvo dealers.
All modern cars are going to have higher dashboards and window sills in the interior for safety reasons. More metal, less glass.
The Macan S feels a little cozy, center console is quite high. But it's got sufficient room for just about everything you'll need. And if you go easy on the options, you can get one that stickers around $65K. Some ideas; 1, no navigation, just get Porsche Connect which has Apple CarPlay which will give you access to navigation from your iPhone; 2, get Porsche Torque Vectoring if you drive on twisty roads often; 3, get one of the Premium Packages; 4, perhaps European delivery; and 5, perhaps full leather interior and alcantara roofliner?
The GLC43 AMG is really more akin to Porsche Macan GTS performance at Macan S price. But with so many of the already superlative GLC 300s running around, you may find it hard to spot your car in a parking lot.

I'm so depressed ...

I stopped by my local Volvo dealer to have a look at the new V90XC Cross Country. I've been waiting a long time to replace my current XC70, it's 2 generations previous to this one. Sadly, I'd say it's not going to happen. This new car is $65-70k sticker p...

what about the XC90? Or VW Touareg?
Wait!
By: le_chef : April 4th, 2017-20:17
Lots of new product coming. If you can live with it the following might be worth waiting for: Audi SQ5, 2018 (might be labeled 2019) BMW X5 due in the fall this year or spring next year, Land Rover Discovery 5, Range Rover Velar, Mercedes E 400 Wagon, Vol...
Do they discount as heavily it the US as here?
By: KMII : April 4th, 2017-20:40
Fully agree with you that their sticker prices are very bold but here they are accompanied by industry leading discounts - otherwise they do not sell a thing. And spaciousness seems to be a thing of the past for Volvo. The S/V 60 were the first ones truly...

surprised and not surprised with your decision! After diligently elaborating on the reasoning it does inevitably make sense not to purchase the car. Haven't driven it myself although I did enjoy driving both the XC90 and S90. Thanks I guess for the sentim...
"progress" often takes on weird shapes with cars
By: Mr Glass : April 4th, 2017-22:28
Cars should be made lighter, faster and more fuel efficient. And I expect better ergonomics with each generation. If you do not feel this is the case with your preferred Volvo model - there are plenty of other great options. The SUV market never had wider...

But then my wife drives to Los Angeles and calls back with "I have a Check Engine light on, what should I do?" And when the tail lamps and signal lamps are constantly going out, and radio stopped working and the self-dimming rear view mirror goes all dark...
Don't you compare apples and peaches?
By: Marcus Hanke : April 4th, 2017-23:55
Aside your SUV, this is simply a station wagon with higher ground clearance. I realized the same when I compared the XC60 with the V60 Cross Country: two different worlds. The XC90 is really a very large and spacious car. I concentrated on the trunk areas...

Take a look at the Audi Q7 or the new Q5...Expensive as well but great driving vehicles.
I've heard good things about the Audi but it's over 5000 lbs!
By: cazalea : April 7th, 2017-07:51
That\'s just so extravagant to move 5000 lbs of metal to shift people from A to B. As a disciple of Colin "simplify and add lightness" Chapman, my fleet is featherweight, like this: 1235 lbs Citroen 2CV 1386 lbs Citroen van 1530 lbs Lotus Elan S4 1880 lbs...

soon at 200,000 miles. However it comes up to almost $60,000 and at this point I am almost in Tesla terrority and Tesla is a much better car, has loads of room and is very comfortable. I didnt like the 2 choices of charcoal interior at all now hearing the...
I went to the Volvo dealer again today, with my wife
By: cazalea : July 27th, 2017-20:47
We talked to the salesman, learned more about the V90XC which I reviewed in April, and decided AGAIN that we didn't like it very much. Being almost as old as me, he said, "That's ok, lots of people in our age group don't like it very much. " He then said,...
