I agree with you and thank goodness, so does the current Mrs MTF. She keeps watches and diamonds separate. On the other hand, every now and then, a brand comes up with spectacular watches with diamonds and only a picture can demonstrate: ;) ...
I guess that with a size of 40 mm, it could attract both male (who like stones) and females (I still have to meet one who doesn't like stones ;))! The onion crown looks really good together with the stone settings! Hopefully, my GF will not read this post...

Magnus, This style of watch is a classic whether it is intended for male or female. Many Pilots' watches of that flight era have the attractive onion crown and cathedral hands. Some even have the coin-edge bezel markings that makes up the Desired Trinity....
