I agree with all your comments...
the 'Extra Special' is a magical piece. In fact I could almost not sleep at Baselworld 2015 and went to the Zenith booth several times just to handle this fine watch again and again and again. Its large face and the sweep seconds hand slowing moving over it is almost erotic.
I did not pull the trigger yet as the bronze material still needs its use-case verified with my lifestyle ;-)

Zenith Extra Special Bronze
When Zenith launched the Type 20 Special, it caught my attention because it was so different from what they were offering. And when I read about Zenith's history in Pilot watches and the fact that it actually owns the trademark for "Pilot" on a watch dial...

to the huge pilot watches but I had a look at this one in the metal and it gave me a positive vibe. Even at 45mm, because of the lug shape, it didn't feel absurd on the wrist and the bronze was something special. Instead of being spontaneous, I decide to ...

Really not very sure how long the aging process will take to develop the patina, maybe someone else can jump in on that subject. I will be sure to post some pix when it does happen....

I did not know that the pilot print on the dial was a trademark. On a second note I agree that 57.5mm was too big to enjoy and bronze is a perfect watch. I do enjoy the 57.5 mm every now and then and have had zenith make a special bund strap for the bronz...

Yes, there has to be a reason why they did not use bronze for the buckle. I have also customised a couple of straps to fit after-mkt bronze buckles, the pix are in another post. Cheers!
Allergy to skin
According to both Panerai and Zenith explanation, bronze material when contacted with skin, might to some caused allergy therefore they both use titanium for their buckle. Shouldn't they provide this choice to consumer instead of their own? I would be muc...

Zenith should have made it an option. And because the strap is not so common 23/21 size, I had no choice but to get 22 mm after mkt bronze buckles and customise some 23/22 mm straps.
They make the size difficult to get aftermarket strap to fit
But there are so many out there to do tailor fit strap for different wrist size...
