That is an odd caseback engraving

Engraved much more deeply than one normally sees, especially the serial number which is normally much lighter than the other text. I would say that perhaps it was re-engraved after the original was obliterated during an aggressive case polish (grain is normally linear, not circumferential), but that number is well out of range for known models as well. Is there a story behind this one?

Looks like Zenith did quite some Milspec watches in its time...

....before going back to the bank safe tomorrow. It is one of those which was made for army use but was in the end not in actual army use (which is why it looks mint and which is why it does not have the "M.M. Serial") ...
