1.
IWC Portugieser Eternal Calendar
“I did it.”
That was the headline of my post when this watch became mine. Initially, I only had it sent to try it on – just to see how it felt on the wrist. But the moment I held it in my hands, it was over. The emotional impact was immediate. A deeply moving mix of timeless elegance and mechanical eternity. There was no turning back.

2.
Rolex Platinum Daytona (Ref. 126506)
This one had been "on order" for two years – mostly out of curiosity. Then I got the call from my AD….
After receiving the IWC Eternal, I thought I’d give myself a well-earned break. A watch diet, if you will. Still, I walked into my favorite AD – just pro forma – with no intention of buying anything. And then… it happened.
The Daytona had arrived. And once it was on my wrist, all logic vanished. I couldn’t leave without it. The weight, the dial, the story – everything just clicked. Boom.

3.
IWC Portugieser Minute Repeater
This was the dream. For years. I even flew to Milan for it and saved up over a long time – every cent, honestly. It’s the Serie II with the sapphire dial, still powered by the earlier movement with the small seconds at 9 o’clock. To make it happen, I sold my only Patek at the time – a white gold Annual Calendar with a grey dial.
No regrets. Not for a second. This watch is pure poetry.

4.
Girard-Perregaux Neo Tourbillon with Three Bridges
I always wanted to own a tourbillon – and for me, the Girard-Perregaux tourbillon is the most beautiful in the world. But this piece was entirely out of my financial reach in those days. I spent weeks thinking about which other watches I’d have to let go to make this one possible.
In the end, that decision marked the beginning of a new philosophy for me – one that I’m now fully committed to and very happy with:
Anything that feels lukewarm, that isn’t 100%, has to go.
Whether in work, in love, in friendship, or in watches – 99% is not enough. It must be all-in, or not at all. This approach allowed me to significantly reduce my (at times growing) collection, but what remains are pieces that still take my breath away every time I hold them.
This Neo Tourbillon? It’s exactly that. Boom.

5.
Hautlence Linear 2
This was pure fate. I walked into my AD and there it was – just delivered, being unboxed for the very first time. Their first watch from Hautlence at my AD. Everyone was gathered around it, intrigued. I looked at it – and I knew. I had to have it. Right there and then.
Sometimes the watch chooses you. Boom.

All the best, my dear watch friends
Thomas
