I had a chance to attend a complications event with AP and was intrigued by some of the more traditional novelties in the Royal Oak variety, including many of which have been launched very recently.
In parallel, we got an introduction to the CODE line, and perhaps originally I thought it would be like one of those Vacation Timeshare presentations - where you get the free meal (which in this event, was Royal Oak novelties and nice champagne) but then you have to sit through an hour presentation of something you really don't want to commit to, and they pressure you somehow to make a purchase...
Well, it turns out that once I laid my eyes on the Aventurine Perpetual Dial CODE, I was really amazed by the dial. I had experienced Aventurine before, in a mini scale on the Ceramic Perpetual model's moon phase, but to see it in essence blown up to a full dial is pretty incredible. In plain terms - it's like putting the finest blue/purple/black/silver glitter and integrating that perfectly to transparent glass, resembling well a starry sky which reminded me so much of a first family safari trip to South Africa we took the same year, where we got to do a few night safaris and find constellations above. Perhaps unconsciously this connection between our first safari in South Africa, and the Aventurine Dial, made me instantly attracted to this model.
Add the dial, the exquisite case (when there is a WS for cases, I think the CODE would fare well too!), the complication, and of course the excellent event and experience with the dealer, it was a true passion purchase
And, in the last 6 months, it's by far the watch I wear the most on a day to day basis. It's also interesting to see how many more Aventurine models that have come out by multiple well known manufacturers - my favourites are definitely from Arnold
