... Yes, I feel that a Submariner (in some of the few variants I own) is the watch you´ll fin on my wrist most of the time. I would say it is my signature watch! Lol!
The leather straps is a nice way of enjoying it, though I must accept not the best option for a diving watch to be used in water. But the old Submariners with the hole on lugs are very easy and fast to change straps/bracelets and we can employ either the Oyster SS bracelet, a Nato, or a synthetic straps for water use.
Besides I like to wear my Rolex watches on leather straps as in this way they look "less Rolex" and that´s a safer condition in our troubled streets where robbers have learned to distinguish their favorite watch brand at a quick glance by their Oyster bracelets!

so my understanding is that GP was bought by a German (!!!) Herr Graeff from Pforzheim in the early 20th century and they had the Mimo brand which in paticular was popular in America. For a while they sold basically GP watches branded Mimo in America, but...

Yes, MIMO bought GP and GP survived, that part is true.... But, GP was used in North/south America and Asia while MIMO was more used in Europe. Best Blomman
