I suspect most chronographs are used to time short intervals that are well covered by the minute counter. And occasionally the hour counter will be called on for car parks and the like. It might be an interesting question to ask on HoMe regarding who uses the hour counter, and what purposes the intervals up to 12 hours might be used for.
