A 3 days trip in Geneva is a somewhat psychedelic moment, with a lot of fun, friendship, and excellent time, detached from Reality.

The year of Dragon ...

1) Regular pic

3) Stacked focus (see at the end) test

Quick explanation about what is a "stacked focus" picture.

Stacked focus is a process where we take many pictures, each one with a separate focus point. On my pic, I started the focus point on the middle crown of the AMVOX 1 and took others moving the point to the watch dial. Nine pics where taken.

With the pics on the computer, I use a free software (CombineZP) that joins all pics resulting in one image that contains, hopefully, everything in focus.

This is a good process to be used when we want to capture more than one watch or we are doing extreme macro (that normally has a very shallow deep of field).

First of all, thank you for your compliments.

I use a Canon 5D MK II and, in those pics, I use a Canon 100mm f/2.8 L macro lens (my favorite).

For post processing I use Apple Aperture running on a MacBook Pro (quad core, 8Gb).

Note: About the Tiger/Dragon. On my first set of pics (not posted) I made a mistake and the sign was ... The Tiger!!!

So this is the "trick" to make deep focus...

I have so much to learn..!

There are other ways to increase the DOF (Deep Of Field).

One is to shoot with a small aperture (f/32 or so). Jocke is a master of this method.

The stacking focus, on other hand, allows a precise control of what is in focus but requires that the object to be capture to be still. Even a running second hand ruins the result.

I agree with your comments about the B&W pics.

The B&W pics (that I love, in general) looks, after the resize to post, a little bit "washed" and, for sure, a "dragon" requires strong reg.

In any case, I need to perfect the resize step before uploading the pics.
