Thanks Don for the report. It is almost unbelievable that I remember using 'sacrificial' coal powder, heating metal to cherry-red, quenching and also annealing at metalwork class before I decided to become a heart transplant surgeon! I was young....what d...

I had been wondering if the Sandvik AP was oil hardening or not like O-1, now I see it is. By annealing- I think you meant tempering, no? :) Wonderful post, it's nice to see someone doing it the old way. -O
