This is a "hate or love watch in my opinion" for its strong identity and personality. I must say... I like it, not as a daily wearer but as a charming piece to wear on special occasions. You mentioned the strap... I was wandering about it too and I can
imagine that it must not be so easy to change especially if someone wants do it by himself.
A beautiful watch, which however is not everyone's taste for sure.

During a recent trip to Zürich I have had a lovely chat in the VC Boutique, and the chance to try out several of their watches I am interested in. Amongst others, the relatively rare and elusive 1972. It seems it is not as strong a seller as VC anticipate...
Clearly an underrated timepiece, for me, from a style point of view (especially this 33172 in WG with its superb chevron pattern dial).
But, the price to quality ratio is very bad for me. That's the true problem of this watch. I know we don't discuss prices here but, in this case, the one of this timepiece is insane in my opinion and it's its true weakness. Best wishes Alkiro

Anything but cheap but the all gold movement accounts for quite some of the cost. If it's worth it - well, that's a personal choice...

You may have a point with the love it or hate it...
The strap is attached by two screws each side, IIRC. The shape means that you will either have to go VC or fully bespoke, though.
