Vacheron Constantin

The Saltarello is a really unique piece

Pictures do not do this watch justice, and in fact can have a negative first impression from a picture.  Just ask my wife!  I showed her a picture first, then put it on my wrist.  Her first response was "bath scale".  Then, oh my....... smile.   I find this alternative time much easier to quickly read time versus the Mercator.  In addition the guilloche pattern out in daylight is just a mesmerizing effect. I also really enjoy the lugs on the wrist.  The movement finish is superior, with that rotor work, again compared to the Mercator. It is a very thin watch.  And it is a hoot to try to set the time using your atomic clock to see how close you can get it on the snap back. This is really an engineering marvel and probably watchmakers nightmare to adjust. But the result is worth it.  Finally, the applied Arabic numbers really kick off in the natural light. Adds a lot of dynamics to the watch.

All three metals have their own charm. I know purists who have the two colors that I don't own.  I hope one day the three of us have a GTG and we do a combined wrist shot of all three metals. Until then, I'll add my RG shot to Blomman's WG

Best
